Q:  Why do you do CrossFit?

A:  I started crossfit because I wanted some social interaction with my exercise routine. From the very first class until now (2.5 years later), I feel like I’ve found “my thing”. To me, crossfit is a hobby that has (really great) health benefits. I enjoy surprising people (and myself) with my abilities, and I especially love showing my daughters a different way to be awesome.

Q:  Why do you do CrossFit at Omnis CrossFit?

A:  It is likely that I never would’ve tried crossfit if I’d not learned that Shea and Brady were the owners. I’ve known them for years, so that was a big help in getting me through the door. Beyond that, the thing that keeps me coming back to Omnis is the feeling of family I have with all the members. Omnis is comprised of a diverse group of people from a variety of backgrounds, and everyone is really supportive of each other. The coaches are all amazing and bring a variety of experience, but I especially appreciate how they work with my abilities or restrictions.

……and let’s be honest, the fact that there is a trustworthy place my kids can hang out while I do my crossfit seals the deal. I wouldn’t be able to attend Omnis without it!

Q: What are your goals?

A:  I’ve been chasing health goals (weight loss) steadily for the last 3-4 years, so I’m trying now to focus more on 1) enjoying/celebrating my successes and 2) perfecting my form. I realize that I am capable of doing much more than I currently am, but I recognize the importance of doing the movements correctly so that I can achieve my potential. I often get caught up either in the thought that I have to beat my last performance numbers or in the head game of being intimidated by specific movements (cleans), so I want to build my confidence in those areas too.

Q:  What is most important to you in your life right now?

A:  Without a doubt, being the best me and role model that I can for my daughters

Q:  What is your biggest challenge?

A:  My mind

Q:  What were you doing before joining Omnis CrossFit?

A:  A whole lot of either nothing or watching the clock on the treadmill/elliptical (SO glad those days are over!!)

Q:  What are your must-have gear items?

A:  Here are a few of my favorites.  While most supplies are provided at the box, each person has their own items that help them be more effective and possibly offset an ailment.

JUNK Brands Headband

Rogue wrist wraps (a necessity for me most days)

Rocktape knee sleeves (yep, I even have this print!)

WOD Nation jump rope (includes a lighter and heavier rope for learning doubleunders!)

Recovery supplements
